Agent confirms Napoli contact for Basel's Sow

Michele Puglisi says a meeting with the club is set and puts an €8m-10m price tag on the 2006-born winger, a player Giovanni Manna has tracked for some time.

Michele Puglisi, agent of Basel winger Asane Sow, told Stile TV's programme "Salite sulla giostra" that contacts with Napoli are already under way, with a meeting planned. "Napoli is attentive to this and will make its own assessments," he said. "Manna is attentive to profiles like Sow, and the lad has known him for a while."

On the price: "€8m-10m, I think, could be a realistic figure, because in the last 15 days of the window clubs from Europe and Saudi Arabia showed interest in the lad, but Basel wouldn't even sit down and talk." Sow, born in Seriate in 2006 with dual Italian and Senegalese nationality, was bought by Basel this summer from Pro Vercelli in Serie C (Italy's third tier) for around €600,000, and has started with four goals and four assists in his first eight matches in Switzerland. If Puglisi's valuation holds, Basel would multiply that outlay fifteen times over in three months. Puglisi also took a swipe at Italian football: "I started working abroad because there's a different mentality there."

Napoli have already missed out on Issa Doumbia, long watched by their scouts before he moved to Sporting Lisbon, and had explored Mastantuono before summer transfer-window rules stopped that move. For Sow, who only just joined Basel, Puglisi says weeks will pass before any fresh update — a deal, if it happens, more likely in June than January.
