Allegri weighs shifting Di Lorenzo to left-back for Villarreal
With Mathías Olivera sidelined by injury, the head coach could rest Leonardo Spinazzola and move vice-captain Matteo Politano to the right flank.

Massimiliano Allegri is considering reshuffling Napoli's full-back positions for Tuesday 13 October's Champions League trip to Villarreal. With Mathías Olivera still out through a strain in his right obturator externus muscle, the head coach is weighing a move to shift captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo to left-back, resting Leonardo Spinazzola and playing vice-captain Matteo Politano wide on the right.
The switch would let Allegri keep his back three unchanged after it looked solid over recent weeks, with Rafa Marín and Benoît Badiashile both tried as the wide centre-backs. Di Lorenzo, who already played on the right in the closing stages of Napoli-Frosinone, would cover the left flank at the Estadio de la Cerámica, where Napoli are looking for a response after losing their Champions League opener to Arsenal.

It remains a temptation rather than a certainty: in recent rounds Allegri has only settled on his line-up a few hours before kick-off, and the same script could play out again this time.
