Arsenal have advised their travelling supporters not to wear club shirts or scarves and to avoid Naples city centre ahead of Wednesday 9 September's Champions League trip to the Maradona, the Daily Star reports, amid fears they could be targeted by violent ultras. The guidance, posted on the club's website on the eve of the game, also tells fans not to gather in large groups or split off from the rest of the away support.

The warning comes amid heightened security. Italy's police headquarters, the Questura, has classified the match high-risk for public order given the roughly 1,500 Gunners fans expected, mayor Manfredi has banned glass and alcohol in parts of the centre from 12:00 to 02:00, and turnstiles at the Maradona open at 18:00, three hours before kick-off.
