Buongiorno completes first rehab phase, return not before 2027

The centre-back shared the update on social media after a spell at Turin's Institute of Sports Medicine, with his recovery timeline having stretched further over a summer he spent out of both pre-season camps.

Alessandro Buongiorno has resurfaced on social media after completing the first phase of his rehabilitation, supervised at the Institute of Sports Medicine in Turin. It is a step forward in a recovery that has kept him out of the season entirely so far: the defender missed both pre-season training camps, and his recovery schedule has been pushed back further in recent weeks. The latest estimates put his return at the start of 2027.

The number 4 is missing from a defence already under strain. Beukema has been out since the start of the season with an Achilles tendon injury and has yet to play a minute across five league games, Marianucci is still working alone away from the group, and Spinazzola is trying to be available for the Frosinone game. Head coach Allegri is reportedly considering a switch to a 3-4-2-1 to manage the absences at the back.

For Buongiorno, a return to the pitch remains a target for early 2027. Sources close to the player say his recovery will continue to be managed without shortcuts.
