The centre-back is back in the gym at Castel Volturno, but his comeback from knee surgery is taking longer than hoped.

Alessandro Buongiorno is back training in the gym at Castel Volturno (the training ground), the latest step in his recovery from surgery to repair the medial meniscus root in his right knee — the problem that has kept him out since the summer and cost him both the Dimaro and Castel di Sangro training camps.

The programme remains gradual, with no rushing: the centre-back still needs around two to two and a half months before he can train with the group again, pushing his return back to early 2027. The club says it will keep monitoring his progress step by step.

It is a heavy loss for Allegri. Beukema has already missed five league games with an Achille's tendon injury and Badiashile has played just 10 minutes all season, while Napoli sit ninth in Serie A on 7 points after five rounds.
