Curva B asks every Napoli fan to wear the shirt against Roma

An ultras' flyer calls for a sea of blue at the Maradona on Saturday 24 October. It is the game the club has tied to its second review of Allegri.

The Curva B, the hardcore end behind the goal, has put out a flyer for Napoli-Roma at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday 24 October, kick-off 18:00 CET (17:00 UK, 12:00 ET). The request is simple: everyone in the blue shirt.

The flyer reads: "We are the white and blue army. Not a match, but a battle. The whole curva in our shirt." The aim is to turn the stands at Fuorigrotta, the stadium's district, blue. It asks fans to put the shirt "above everything".

"Not a match, but a battle. The whole curva in our shirt."

The call comes in the most tense week of the season. Napoli are ninth on 10 points after seven matches. Gasperini's Roma are third on 17, and Napoli come into the game off the 1-0 at Venezia. The 4-3 against Bodø/Glimt brought relief but settled nothing. Then there is Allegri: the club has tied his position to this match, the second test after the Champions League one.

One thing needs saying plainly. The curva wants a battle and the fans will wear the shirt. The answer that counts has to come from the pitch, though, and that is where it has been missing so far. On Saturday we will see whether Allegri's side are worthy of the people behind them.
