De Laurentiis keeps faith with Allegri, no other coach lined up
Arena Napoli understands there are no alternative candidates after the defeat at Venezia. That could change if results worsen further.
Napoli will continue with Allegri for now. No other coaches are under consideration, and those running the club do not want to open a crisis on the bench despite five defeats in nine official games. This fits what emerged in recent days: no contact with other coaches, and Palladino was never an option.
The caveat matters. If the situation worsens, something can happen, and the backing Allegri has on Monday 19 October is no guarantee for later. A new coach would also inherit the same problems. Anguissa, Neres and Alisson Santos have had three relapses in a month, and the squad is the one that lost at Villarreal and Venezia. Napoli are 9th with 10 points after 7 league games, nine behind Inter.

Our view is that the uncomfortable question lies elsewhere. Changing coach does not undo the summer's decisions: €200m in liquidity left frozen, and a transfer window that closed without targeted investment. Those who build the squad answer for it, as much as the person picking the team. Supporters calling for a sacking on social media have a point, but should ask whether the problem sits only on the bench.
Napoli host Bodø/Glimt at the Maradona on Tuesday 20 October, kicking off at 21:00 CET (20:00 UK, 15:00 ET). They arrive with zero points in the Champions League after Arsenal and Villarreal. Allegri has promised a turnaround from that game, and the pitch, not the rumours, will show how long the backing lasts.
