Di Lorenzo defends Napoli teammates after Belgium defeat
Napoli's captain says slating players after one game does the national team no favours, following the Nations League opener loss to Belgium.
"If we start slating players after the first game, we're not helping the national team," Giovanni Di Lorenzo said, trying to shield the Italy squad after the defeat to Belgium that opened the Nations League. "I don't know how long it will take, but it's a question of self-belief," the Napoli captain added.
The full-back did not hide the difficulties: "We have to find a national team again that frightens everyone. It's certainly not the best start, the boos are understandable... Of course, we have to improve."

Di Lorenzo arrives at this off the back of a tough spell with his club too. Napoli sit ninth after drawing in Florence, and his call for clarity around the national team echoes the same unease currently surrounding the side at club level.
