Giovane says his first Napoli goal will come soon, but Napoli need results now

The Brazilian has started the last three games without scoring. Before Roma visit the Maradona on Sunday 25 October, he says he will play wherever Allegri puts him.

Giovane has yet to score for Napoli, and the Brazilian number 23 is not worried about it. "I know there is time for everything and I am calm: my first goal in this shirt will come soon," he said on Saturday 24 October, the day before the Roma game. He put the result first: "What matters to me is coming away with the three points and helping the team."

He has started against Villarreal, Venezia and Bodø/Glimt. Of Tuesday's 4-3 he said: "It helped us gain more confidence. We are happy about that game, but it is already over." On head coach Allegri: "Being young, I need to listen to him more because he has great experience." He named the pace, the intensity and the physical side as the hardest parts of adjusting to Italy. He is also open on his position: "I like playing on the right, but what matters to me is playing. If the coach wants me on the left or as a second striker, I play."

With Neres, Favasuli and Alisson Santos all out, a player who can fill several roles is useful. But Napoli cannot give him the time he is giving himself. They are tenth on 10 points, seven behind third-placed Roma, and lost at Venezia despite 29 shots without a goal. Sunday's game at the Maradona kicks off at 18:00 CET (17:00 UK, 13:00 ET) and is Allegri's second big test.
