Koné injury rules him out of Napoli clash on 24 October

The France midfielder went down with a muscle problem during Roma's game against Real Madrid and will miss the Maradona meeting that closes out Napoli's October.

Manu Koné has been ruled out of Napoli-Roma, scheduled for Saturday 24 October at the Maradona, after going down with a muscle injury.

The problem struck while Roma were playing Real Madrid, at 1-1 after De Roon's opener in the 20th minute and Mbappé's equaliser in the 25th.

It is the second injury to hit Gian Piero Gasperini's side since the international break, following the one suffered by Svilar. During the break, Roma had also withheld Dybala and Molina from their national teams for Messi's farewell match, while Malen stayed behind at Trigoria with an unspecified knee knock.

Malen is already on the list of absentees for Roma's nearest league fixture: the disciplinary body suspended him for one match after his red card in Como-Roma, but the ban applies to the Genoa game, not the Maradona trip, where the Dutchman will be available to Gasperini as normal.

Roma's list of absences keeps growing just as preparations for the game get under way in Naples: tickets for Napoli-Roma have been on sale since 13 October, with windows reserved for season-ticket holders and Fidelity Card members before general sale opens. In ten days' time, it will become clear how much Roma's injury crisis really weighs on the Maradona fixture.
