Napoli call up 2009-born midfielder Riccio from the Primavera
With the midfield stretched thin by injuries, head coach Allegri has brought Luigi Riccio, a 2009-born midfielder from Napoli's Primavera side, in to train with the first team ahead of Frosinone.

Two days out from Napoli-Frosinone, Allegri has called up Luigi Riccio, a 2009-born Primavera midfielder, to train with the first team. The move is down to a squeeze in midfield: Vergara is out with a soleus injury, Olivera is a doubt, Anguissa is uncertain, and McTominay only had his fitness check on Thursday 8 October following heart surgery on 8 September.
Riccio, a central midfielder who can also play as an attacking midfielder, has made just two Primavera appearances for a total of 46 minutes this season, plus one Youth League game. At Under-18 level he scored a goal and set up another in three starts, while last season with the Under-17s he made 22 appearances with 3 goals and 4 assists, wearing the captain's armband for the first part of the year. He has two caps for the Under-15 national team.

His promotion to the first-team group says plenty about how threadbare Allegri's midfield options are for Saturday night at the Maradona.
