Napoli close in on Rrahmani renewal after interest from England, Turkey and Saudi Arabia

The deal for a contract extension to 2029 at €3.8m a season has been known for days. What is new is who came sniffing around first.

Amir Rrahmani is staying at Napoli, and it was interest from outside the club that pushed the board to move quickly. In recent months the Kosovan centre-back received approaches from England, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. None of them turned into a concrete negotiation, but they were enough to convince the club to secure him well in advance. Agreement was reached as far back as the end of last season to extend his contract from 2027 to 2029, on wages of around €3.8m a season.

It is worth remembering that his current deal was not close to expiring anyway: it already included an option for 2028, a detail that shows how much the club valued him even before this summer. The move is not yet official, but the financial terms and the new expiry date have been settled for some time, with only the signature still to come.

Rrahmani arrived at Napoli in 2020 and has become a fixture of the defence over the years, a status that has survived the change of head coach too. Under Allegri he has made 6 appearances, with 1 assist and 540 minutes played so far this season, as Napoli sit 9th on 7 points after five games. In a defensive unit with more than one problem right now — Badiashile limited to 10 minutes all season, Beukema yet to play a single one — the certainty offered by the Kosovan centre-back matters more than a delayed announcement.
