Napoli fined €7,000 after fans throw flares at Venezia
Serie A's disciplinary judge punished the club for four flares thrown by Napoli supporters at the Penzo, two of which landed on the pitch and held up play. Venezia were fined €5,000.

Napoli have been fined €7,000 for flares thrown by their supporters during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Venezia. The fine was announced by Serie A's disciplinary judge in the ruling on the seventh round of matches.
In the 18th minute two flares landed on the pitch, and the referee stopped the game for about a minute and a half so they could be removed. Two more flares were thrown during the match into the area around the pitch. The judge reduced the fine under Article 29, paragraph 1(b) of the Code of Sports Justice. Venezia were fined €5,000. Their fans threw one flare onto the pitch in the same 18th minute, causing another stoppage of about a minute and a half, and a second into the area around the pitch in the 40th minute. Supporters of nine clubs, Napoli among them, were also named for bringing pyrotechnics into their sections and setting them off.

Napoli's fine was higher because their fans threw more flares: four to two, and two on the pitch to one. On an afternoon when Napoli had 29 shots without scoring, De Bruyne had a penalty saved in the 68th minute and Adams scored the only goal in the 49th, the flares were the only thing to stop the game before Venezia went ahead. €7,000 means little to a club that kept €200m in reserve over the summer. It is still one more bad mark from a trip to forget, a few hours before Napoli played Bodø/Glimt at the Maradona at 21:00 CET (20:00 UK, 15:00 ET) on Tuesday 20 October.
