Napoli still chasing Perrone as Como moves to tie him down

The Argentine midfielder remains a target as a long-term successor to Lobotka, but Como are already working on a new contract to keep him.

Napoli have no plans to drop their interest in Maximo Perrone. The Como midfielder remains on Aurelio De Laurentiis's club's radar as a possible heir to Stanislav Lobotka, the 68-cap Slovakia holding midfielder who still runs Napoli's midfield and who recently complained about a "brutal" fixture schedule. Inter and Juventus have previously shown interest in the 21-year-old Argentine.

Perrone joined Como permanently after their promotion to Serie A, signed from Manchester City for €13m. The arrival of Milla has increased competition in midfield and cut his playing time this season, but Como show no sign of wanting to let him go: the club is reportedly already working on a new contract to secure the 21-year-old, who is targeting a regular place in a side that has qualified for the Champions League.

With the summer window closed since 1 September and the winter one not reopening until 2 January, any progress on Perrone remains low-key for now. Sporting director Giovanni Manna is already assessing other midfield options for January, starting with the possible departure of Anguissa.
