Sosa says Spalletti wanted to quit football, not take a break
The former Napoli player, now a host on Radio Marte, says he witnessed the moment himself at a lunch in Castel Volturno (Napoli's training ground). His version differs from the one told publicly when the coach left.

Sosa, a former Napoli player now a voice on Radio Marte, has given a different account of Spalletti's exit from the Napoli bench than the one told publicly at the time.
The claim centres on a lunch at Castel Volturno, which Sosa attended along with Cristian Bucchi. By his account, Spalletti said then that he wanted to leave football altogether, not simply take a year out, as was reported when he left Napoli.

Spalletti, now at Juventus, has recently revisited his Napoli spell on another front. He told Tuttosport that he found Lobotka, still in the squad today, on the margins of the project when he took charge.
Sosa's account lands as Napoli go through a second coaching change in a few months. After Conte, who won the Scudetto and the Supercoppa, the ownership turned to Allegri, in charge since 3 July with a stated mandate of a top-four finish and a step forward in the Champions League compared with last season.
Any retelling of a coaching exit touches a sore spot for a fanbase that, after the draw in Florence, has already shown its frustration with the club through banners against Aurelio De Laurentiis. The league does not wait: Napoli host Frosinone at the Maradona on Saturday 10 October, matchday six.
For Sosa, who wore the Napoli shirt before moving to the other side of the microphone, staying close to the club through radio means this too: returning, when the moment comes, to tell a piece of what really happened in blue, away from the official version.
