The story dominating the papers on Wednesday 30 September has nothing to do with what happens on the pitch. Cipess, Italy's inter-ministerial committee for economic planning, has unlocked €150m in state funds for the renovation of the Maradona ahead of Euro 2032. Il Mattino, citing comments from Roano to CalcioNapoli24, focuses on the timeline for the new stadium, calling it a step now committed to in writing.

On the training ground, the tone is more cautious. Il Mattino writes that Qualiano remains the preferred site, with land and hectares already identified, but cautions that the club still needs to "find an economic balance" before it can be considered settled.

There is also a story concerning Aurelio De Laurentiis directly, but away from Napoli. La Repubblica reports that prosecutors in Bari have dropped their request for the judicial liquidation of Bari Calcio, after the president committed to paying €11m — a move that also sees the fraudulent bankruptcy charge fall away. It is a corporate matter involving the president, not Allegri's squad.

On the pitch, the team-selection puzzle for Frosinone remains. Sky Sport writes that Allegri is preparing an "unprecedented XI", in line with days of speculation about a switch to a back three. The mood around the head coach is not calm, though: Il Mattino runs the harsh headline "Una bestemmia" ("A blasphemy") over one of Allegri's convictions about Napoli — a sign that at least one outlet is not waiting for the match to open a critical front on his tactical choices.

It is striking that the day after a team sitting ninth in the table, fresh from a draw in Florence, the talk is mostly of stadiums and courtrooms. The €150m from Cipess is real news, but it lands in the same week as banners against the president: the papers tell it as two separate stories; we read it as the same one — a fanbase asking for sporting answers and getting property ones instead. On Allegri's "unprecedented XI", nobody has yet explained what problem it is supposed to solve. Until it is seen on the pitch against Frosinone, it remains just a headline.
