Venezia appoint Nicola as new head coach before Napoli clash
The lagoon club have picked Davide Nicola as Stroppa's successor, with a deal in place until 2028. He is set to resolve his Cremonese contract within hours and could take the bench as soon as Saturday.
Venezia have chosen Davide Nicola as their new head coach, agreeing a deal until 2028. He is expected to resolve his contract with Cremonese within hours, with the two clubs working since the morning of Wednesday 14 October to complete the paperwork. The change comes after a heavy defeat to Atalanta and zero points from six games.
Nicola returns to Serie A after his spell at Cremonese, whom he managed between July 2025 and March 2026 without lifting them clear of the relegation zone. He has also coached Cagliari and Torino, but is best remembered for keeping Crotone up in 2017, sealed on the final day with a 3-1 win over Lazio.

If the timeline holds, his debut is already set: Saturday at 15:00 at the Pierluigi Penzo, against a Napoli side under Allegri sitting eighth with 10 points, fresh off a 3-1 defeat at Villarreal in the Champions League.
