Vergara withdrawn from Italy duty with calf issue

Antonio Vergara asked to be substituted on the Italy bench after feeling a problem in his calf, which will now be evaluated. The Napoli midfielder had put in another good display for the senior national team, just days after his debut in the 1-1 draw between France and Italy in Saint-Denis, where he was involved in the build-up to Bastoni's goal and praised by the press.
The news comes four days before Napoli-Frosinone, on Saturday 10 October at 20:45 CET at the Maradona. Head coach Allegri has been weighing a midfield choice between Vergara and De Bruyne for days, with the younger player thought to be in front for that game. A muscle problem, if confirmed, would complicate the coach's plans at a time when the injury list at Castel Volturno (the training ground) is already long.
