Napoli lose 4 players to injury and Marianucci to ban in Turin

Allegri must rebuild his defence for the Porto game on Wednesday 4 November and the Lazio match on Sunday 8 November. The club has not yet given an update on the injured.

Napoli left Turin with a 2-0 defeat by Juventus and a growing injury list. De Bruyne, Di Lorenzo, Olivera and Lang all came off hurt, and Marianucci will miss the Lazio game through suspension.

De Bruyne stayed in the dressing room at half-time with an ankle sprain. Di Lorenzo, our captain, was substituted early in the second half with a muscle problem in the adductor. Olivera asked to come off with a muscle injury, reported as a strain. Lang left the pitch late on holding his thigh, and the medical staff watched him with concern.

The suspension comes from the match itself. Marianucci replaced Di Lorenzo, had already been booked in the 38th minute and was sent off in the 75th for a second yellow. Alajbegovic scored in the 70th minute, five minutes before the red card, and Boga added the second in the 87th. Now, on top of the defeat, Napoli lose him for Lazio.

A defence to rebuild

The squad was already stretched before Turin. Lobotka, Neres, Badiashile, Spinazzola, Buongiorno, Favasuli and Alisson Santos were all out. Buongiorno and Badiashile are defenders. With Di Lorenzo and Olivera doubtful, Marianucci suspended for Lazio and Rrahmani only just back from a blow to the sternum, the back line has to be rethought almost from scratch. It is the same defence that Allegri and Di Lorenzo admitted, on the eve of the game, needed fine-tuning.

It raises an uncomfortable question. How much more can be asked of a squad that already has seven players out in early November and may now lose four more? The transfer window is closed until 2 January 2027, and only free agents can be signed. What Napoli have is what Napoli have, and Allegri's choices from here leave no margin for error.

Next up is Porto, away at the Dragão on Wednesday 4 November at 21:00 CET (20:00 UK, 15:00 ET). Farioli's side have won all ten of their league games. Then on Sunday 8 November at 12:30 CET (11:30 UK, 06:30 ET), Lazio, top of the table on 28 points, visit the Maradona. The fitness of De Bruyne, Di Lorenzo, Olivera and Lang is the first thing to learn, and the club has so far given no news on any of them.
