Napoli-Q8 talks on new stadium land narrow to 25 hectares
Napoli want only the part of the old refinery site they need, and Q8 wants over €20m for it. Naples City Council has yet to join the technical talks.

Napoli's talks with Kuwait Petroleum Italia (Q8) over the former refinery site have settled on a precise area: about 25 hectares bordered by via De Roberto and the Strada Provinciale delle Brecce, already decontaminated and ready for building work. The club wants to buy only the portion the project needs, not the whole site. Q8 is asking more than €20m for that land, which is the main sticking point in the negotiation.
The technical plans — a 70,000-capacity stadium, 120 skyboxes, parking for 5,000 cars and new public green space, with reworked local roads — were presented by Bruno Discepolo and Carolina Zavanella of the Gau Arena studio to Raffaele Iollo, Q8's director of Renewable Energy & Supply Chain. If the land deal is agreed, building work would still take 24-30 months, putting the stadium on course to open by 2030.

One step remains outside the land negotiation itself: Naples City Council has yet to join the technical table to set the planning parameters, a condition without which building work cannot begin. That is what separates a deal on the land from the project actually being workable.
