De Bruyne's Bologna cramps were just fatigue, fit for Fiorentina

The Belgian felt muscle trouble in the second half of Napoli-Bologna, but the issue has cleared and he will start at the Franchi.

Kevin De Bruyne will be fit for Napoli's trip to Fiorentina on Sunday. The cramps he felt in the second half of the 1-0 win over Bologna last Sunday turned out to be simple muscle fatigue with no lasting effect, and it has cleared up during this week's training. He is not in doubt for the trip to Tuscany.

His return matters more than usual. Anguissa is out with a muscle strain and McTominay remains sidelined after heart surgery on Wednesday 9 September, so a De Bruyne absence would have forced Allegri to rework the whole midfield. The double playmaker set-up alongside Lobotka stays the starting plan - the same system that produced De Bruyne's best game in a Napoli shirt in the second half against Bologna, with 85 touches and 11km covered.

More than the cramp itself, the worry had been losing a third midfielder from an already long injury list. Napoli are back on the pitch at the Franchi on Sunday at 12:30 CET, live only on DAZN.
