Q8 to clean up stadium site with the city as Qualiano moves ahead
Clean-up work has already begun at the former refinery in San Giovanni a Teduccio, and the deal includes a green space for local residents. Napoli's planned stadium is only one part of the redevelopment.

Clean-up work has already started at the former refinery in San Giovanni a Teduccio, and Kuwait Petroleum International, which owns the Q8 brand, wants to finish it together with Naples city council. The agreement goes beyond decontaminating the land. It also includes a green space for people who live in the area.
Napoli's new stadium fits into that wider regeneration. It does not drive it. Gino Zavanella's design has 70,000 seats and 130 skyboxes.

Of the two building projects on De Laurentiis's mind, the training centre is further along. For the Qualiano site, a draft preliminary agreement is already with the owners' lawyers. The stadium has a price: at least €20m for about 25 hectares. But Q8 first wants preliminary approval from the city's institutions.
Q8 and the council working together on the clean-up is a real step forward, but for now it matters more to the neighbourhood than to Napoli. The 70,000 seats will remain a drawing until a stadium project reaches Palazzo San Giacomo (Naples city hall).
