De Giovanni: build-up play is Napoli's real problem
Saturday's 3-2 defeat at San Siro stayed off Rai, exclusive to Dazn and Sky like the rest of Serie A. The story on Wednesday 9 September is Maurizio De Giovanni's radio verdict on Napoli's season so far.

Saturday's loss at San Siro never aired on Rai — as with the whole Serie A round, it was exclusive to Dazn and Sky. The real story came from Radio Napoli Centrale, where writer Maurizio De Giovanni, a guest on "Sempre Con Te", picked apart Napoli's two league defeats, against Como and Inter.
De Giovanni rates the home loss to Fabregas's Como as worse than the 3-2 in Milan: "Inter left more space, while Como overpowered us," before Como sat back for the final half hour. He points to poor build-up play as "Napoli's real problem" this season, citing Badiashile, who "let the striker get past him with ease on the first high ball" — proof, he says, "that you can't rely on him."

On Allegri's substitutions in Milan, De Giovanni defends the head coach: Inter's bench, with Calhanoglu, Jones and Thuram, is not comparable to Napoli's. His real concern is Neres, whom he described as being in "a genuinely worrying phase" ahead of Wednesday evening's Champions League game against Arsenal.
