Genoa beat Juventus 2-0 and Bologna score four at San Siro

The result that matters most to Napoli came from Genoa. Genoa beat Juventus 2-0, and Juventus host us at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday 1 November at 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET).

Does that put Juventus in crisis? No. One match is not enough to judge a side. But on Sunday two teams level on points meet, and the winner leaves the other behind.

Milan beaten at home

At San Siro, Milan lost 2-4 to Bologna. They stay fifth on 18 points, four more than Napoli, so the gap to fifth place has not grown. Bologna move up to 11.

At the bottom, Parma and Udinese drew 0-0 and stay on 5 points. Only two sides are below them: Fiorentina, on 4 with a game in hand, and Venezia, last on 3. That is the Venezia side that beat Napoli 1-0.

The top four hold firm

At the top, the round left the first four places unchanged. Lazio won 6-2 at Sassuolo and joined Inter on 25. Roma beat Cagliari 4-2 and move up to 21. Como won 3-1 at Torino and are fourth on 20.

That leaves Napoli eleven points off the top and six off fourth place. This is what the early-season defeats have cost.

Frosinone the surprise

The surprise side is Frosinone, sixth on 14 points with a game in hand. They host Lecce on Thursday 29 October at 18:30 and would go up to 17 with a win. On Sunday at 15:00 they host Torino, who have 13 points.

At the other end of the scale are Atalanta, one of the sides Napoli should be measuring themselves against. They are twelfth with 10 points from eight games and play at Fiorentina on Thursday 29 October at 20:45.

The next round

The sides above Napoli face different tests next. Roma go to Udinese on Saturday 31 October at 18:00. On Sunday 1 November, Lazio host Cagliari and Como host Venezia. Bologna host Monza on Saturday at 15:00.
