Napoli open to €20m January sale of injury-hit Neres

The Brazilian is out again and will miss Monza, Juventus and Porto. The club will not give him away, but a concrete offer would bring them to the table.

Neres is no longer untouchable. With the Brazilian injured once again, Napoli are considering selling him in January if a concrete offer arrives from abroad. The asking price is around €20m. The club are in no hurry and will not sell him cheap, but the door is now open.

The numbers explain why. Since arriving in the summer of 2024, Neres has made 61 appearances, not all of them as a starter, and has had eight injuries in three seasons. The latest is a lesion of the right semimembranosus, with his return expected in mid-November. He misses the game at the U-Power Stadium on Wednesday 28 October, kick-off 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 15:45 ET), as well as the matches against Juventus and Porto. The rest is down to his body. If he comes back and stays fit, his value rises. Another relapse would make a parting almost inevitable.

It is hard to see who would pay €20m for a winger with this medical record. Selling him would also leave the attack thinner still. Alisson Santos is out, Højlund has not scored since Saturday 5 September and Napoli are tenth on 11 points. Selling him without a replacement already lined up solves nothing. It only takes an option away from a squad that already has few.
