Ngonge in Monza's 25-man squad to face Napoli, Folorunsho left out

Monza host a Napoli side sitting tenth on Wednesday 28 October, with Landucci on the bench in place of the suspended Allegri. One name in Monza's squad will interest Napoli's scouts.

Ivan Juric has named 25 players for Monza's home game against Napoli, and two of them are familiar faces in Naples. The match is on Wednesday 28 October at 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 15:45 ET) at the U-Power Stadium, Monza's home ground. It is the ninth round of the season.

Ngonge is in the squad and wears 16. Folorunsho, the other former Napoli player, is not. No reason has been given for his absence, and we are not going to make one up.

The full squad: 1 Tornqvist, 2 Goglichidze, 3 Lucchesi, 6 Antov, 7 Mangas, 8 Foe Ondoa, 9 Varela, 10 Cutrone, 11 Forson, 14 Akinsanmiro, 16 Ngonge, 19 Birindelli, 20 Thiam, 21 Colombo, 22 Zeballos, 24 Bakoune, 26 Ciurria, 27 Touré, 28 Colpani, 43 Strajnar, 44 Carboni, 46 Robinson, 47 Mota Carvalho, 60 Kouadio, 80 Mout. Napoli have named 20.

The name to watch is Varela. Born in 2005, he wears the number 9. A Napoli scout went to see him play a few days ago, and Benfica hold matching rights on him. On Wednesday he is an opponent, but whoever is following him for the club has one more reason to watch closely.

Monza concede goals, Napoli concede more

Monza's numbers point to a side in trouble. They are 15th on 7 points, level with Genoa, and have lost 5 of their 8 games. They have scored 15 and conceded 18. Their latest defeat was 3-2 in Turin. They came up after finishing third in Serie B (Italy's second tier) with 76 points.

Eight rounds in, though, the table does not tell the whole story, and Napoli are in no position to look down on anyone. We are tenth on 11 points, the worst start since 2009-10. Across Serie A and the Champions League we have conceded 17 goals in 11 games, 7 of them in the last three. Monza score almost two a game and need the points at home as much as we do. We are not expecting a quiet night.

Landucci in charge, Rrahmani back

Landucci will be on the bench. Allegri is banned for two games and chose not to appeal, so he will also miss the Juventus game. Badiashile and Spinazzola are out with muscle injuries picked up against Roma.

Rrahmani is back after getting over the flu, and that matters. With him on the pitch Napoli concede between 0.69 and 0.72 goals a game. Without him it is about 1.7.

The question we take to Monza has not changed since the 3-3 draw on Saturday 24 October. Napoli were 2-0 up through Anguissa and McTominay and were pegged back twice, the second time by Balerdi in the 89th minute. Allegri admitted as much himself.

"Over the course of the season we have let leads slip many times."

Roma are on 18 points, Lazio and Inter on 22. Against a side that has lost five of eight, only the three points count. Then comes Juventus on Sunday 1 November, with Landucci still in the dugout.
