Napoli will keep De Bruyne in January but Anguissa's future is open
The Belgian's contract runs out on 30 June and he earns almost €13m gross, yet the club want him until the end of the season. Among the senior players, Anguissa is the one whose position is in question.

De Bruyne is not going anywhere in January unless there is a particular need. The club's line is to keep him at least until the end of the season. That is not an obvious choice: his contract expires on 30 June, he earns almost €13m gross, and in recent weeks there had been talk of MLS and Saudi Arabia.
Among the senior players, Anguissa is the one whose future is genuinely uncertain. He is also out of contract in June 2027, but his case is different. His best spell came when Allegri moved him to holding midfield, and the 3-3 against Roma was the turning point. His relationship with the coach has not always been easy, though. Then, on the night of the 4-1 in Porto, the cameras caught him arguing with Lucca on the pitch.

Allegri has asked for a January window that strengthens the squad rather than weakens it, and keeping the most famous player in the squad fits that. Keeping him will not be enough on its own if nobody sorts out the balance in a dressing room that looked so tense in Porto. League leaders Lazio visit the Maradona on Sunday 8 November at 12:30 CET (11:30 UK, 06:30 ET), with De Bruyne expected to play behind Højlund. The answers start there.
