Tickets on sale for Napoli's Champions League trip to Villarreal

Napoli travel to Spain on Tuesday 13 October to face Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica in the Champions League, their second European game of the season after the 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal on 9 September. Tickets are on sale on both clubs' official channels while stock lasts, and on resale platforms such as StubHub, where prices move with demand. The Cerámica holds around 23,000, among the smallest capacities in the competition, so availability is tight.

Head-to-head

Napoli lead the five meetings 3-2. In the Champions League the sides last met in the 2011-12 group stage, when Napoli won both legs 2-0. Their most recent meeting overall was a friendly on 17 December 2022, which Napoli lost 3-2. Before that came two Europa League ties in 2015-16: Villarreal won 1-0 at home, Napoli hit back with a 1-1 draw in the return leg.

Form

Villarreal have not won in five official games — three defeats, two draws. The run includes a 3-2 Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund on 8 September, a 2-3 loss to Deportivo La Coruña in Liga, and a 1-0 defeat to Alavés. They have scored eight goals and conceded ten in that spell.

Napoli have won two and lost three in the same period. Their last win was 1-0 over Bologna on 13 September, before the Champions League defeat to Arsenal and a 3-2 loss at San Siro against Inter. They have scored five and conceded seven.

Both clubs sit on zero points after the opening round of the Champions League table. Napoli are 27th after the 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal, Villarreal 21st after the 3-2 loss to Dortmund — a sign of how much the first points of the league phase matter for both.

Before flying to Spain, Napoli have a Serie A fixture: Frosinone visit the Maradona on Saturday 10 October. The Cerámica trip follows, then Napoli return to Champions League action at the Maradona on Tuesday 20 October at 21:00 CET (20:00 UK, 15:00 ET) against Bodø/Glimt.
