Napoli's Primavera (the youth side) beat Bodø/Glimt 1-0 in the Youth League on Tuesday 20 October, their first win of the season in the competition. The goal came on the half-hour from Riccio, a 2009-born midfielder whom Allegri had called up to train with the first team before Napoli v Frosinone. Captain Milton Pereyra, who has also been called up to the senior squad in recent weeks, set him up. Riccio wrong-footed the goalkeeper with a powerful shot at the near post.

After that, Nocerino's side spent the game hanging on. The Norwegians made several chances, but the youngsters held out to the end. Spinelli started in goal, with Natale, Lieto, Branchizio and Melnyk at the back, Chiummariello, De Stefano, Santella and Riccio in midfield, and Favicchio and Pereyra up front. Mane and Liccardo came on in the 54th minute, Chiaiese in the 59th, and Marotta and Barido in the 69th. Following the 1-0 win over Pisa in the league on 10 October, it is a second win in ten days.

This is the Youth League, so no outsized comparisons: the youngsters will not fix the first team's problems. But Napoli had already beaten Bodø/Glimt once by Tuesday evening. At 21:00 CET (20:00 UK, 15:00 ET) at the Maradona, the senior side, still on zero points after Arsenal and Villarreal, have to show they can do at least as well.
