André-Frank Anguissa has asked Napoli for a four-year contract extension through to 2030, according to reports, with his current deal running until 2027. The Cameroon midfielder was among those kept in the starting line-up for the Champions League game against Arsenal, recovering from the fatigue he felt at San Siro to start the match.

McTominay's situation remains open on the other side. The Scot, who still has two years left on his contract, is said to be seeking a pay rise. He is currently out for around two weeks after having a cardiac ablation in Manchester on 9 September.

Both cases need careful handling. Napoli closed the summer window with a net spend of €47.5m and have lost their last two league games, leaving them 12th with 3 points after three rounds. The winter window, which reopens on 2 January, remains the likely moment to resolve both.
