Napoli's 11 points from 8 games is the club's worst start since 2009/10
The 3-3 draw with Roma leaves Napoli 10th in Serie A. Head coach Allegri's side must go back 16 years to find a poorer opening, when the team stopped at 10 points.

Napoli have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their first eight league games, for 11 points. Since the club's return to Serie A in 2007, only two other starts have produced just three wins in eight. In 2009/10 it was three wins, one draw and four defeats, for 10 points. In 2010/11 it was three wins, three draws and two defeats. This season, the Centenary year, sits among the worst.
This is not a blip to file away. Napoli are 11 points behind Lazio, who lead with Inter on 22. Roma, who pulled back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3, have 18. Napoli have conceded 10 goals in eight league games, and the squad Manna built in the summer has yet to find its balance. Allegri has a mandate to finish fourth. That target looks distant now, and the fanbase knows it.

The fixtures offer no breathing space. Napoli travel to Monza's U-Power Stadium on Wednesday 28 October, kick-off 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET), to face a side on 7 points. Another game left half-finished, and the comparison with 2009/10 stops being just a statistic.
