Pistocchi: Napoli denied a penalty for Dragusin's hold on Højlund
The journalist flags two more contested Serie A calls from the weekend and asks whether the VAR system has been reined in on purpose.
Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi, in a post on X, has questioned three refereeing decisions from Serie A's fifth round, starting with Fiorentina-Napoli. Dragusin held Højlund with the ball in play, but referee Doveri did not award a penalty and VAR Gariglio did not call him to review it.
Pistocchi's other two examples: in Bologna-Torino, Guida waved away a penalty appeal for contact between Heggem and Oristanio, with VAR Santoro also staying out of it; in Juventus-Atalanta, Zufferli let play continue after a prolonged hold by Kalulu on Rowe, again without a review from VAR Marini.

Having listed the three incidents, Pistocchi widened the debate to the whole system:
Has Orsato closed off VAR to improve the game, or to give referees back their power?
The question comes a day after Napoli's 1-1 draw in Florence, which leaves the club on 7 points and ninth in Serie A.
