Police guard Napoli's hotel in Pozzuoli during De Laurentiis's retreat
Officers have stepped up checks around the hotel because of the risk of protests. The squad stays shut away until the Lazio game on Sunday 8 November.

State Police cars and Carabinieri patrols are guarding the roads leading to the hotel Gli Dei in Pozzuoli. Napoli are staying there in a ritiro, a closed-door retreat, until Sunday. Police have stepped up checks because of the risk of protests and to stop anyone getting close to the squad. So far there has been no trouble outside the hotel, and nobody has organised a protest.
Aurelio De Laurentiis ordered the retreat. Inside, the days will be given over to training, tactical meetings and rest. The squad leaves on Sunday 8 November for Napoli-Lazio at the Maradona, which kicks off at 12:30 CET (11:30 UK, 06:30 ET). Gattuso's side arrive top of the table with 28 points, twice Napoli's 14.

Shutting the team away in a guarded hotel keeps the players safe, but it says nothing about how they will play. The retreat should be judged on what Napoli do against the league leaders on Sunday.
