Rrahmani a doubt for Juventus as Marianucci lines up a first start

The centre-back is still feeling the blow to the sternum he took at Monza. If he misses out, Beukema is the only cover left on the bench.

Rrahmani could miss Juventus-Napoli at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday 1 November, kick-off 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET). The medical staff had given reassuring news about the bruised sternum he picked up at Monza, but the number 13 is still not fully fit.

If he does not make it, Marianucci starts alongside Rafa Marín. The number 35 is back from a long injury he suffered in August, and this would be his first start of the season. He played the second half at Monza in place of Rrahmani. Beukema would be the only alternative on the bench.

This is not just another absence. With Rrahmani on the pitch Napoli concede between 0.69 and 0.72 goals a game. Without him, it is around 1.7. The defence is already stretched: Buongiorno has been out since July, Badiashile is unavailable, and Spinazzola and Favasuli are both missing on the flanks. Seven players are out in total, including Lobotka (reportedly for two months), Neres and Alisson Santos.

That leaves an awkward question. Both sides are on 14 points. This defence concedes too much even at full strength, so can it hold up in a game this big with a centre-back making his first start? In Turin, Landucci will have to answer it with whatever he has left.
