Lieto earns first Serie A call-up as Napoli negotiate deal to 2031
The centre-back, born in 2008, is on the bench at the Allianz Stadium for Juventus-Napoli on Sunday 1 November. Talks with his agent over a longer contract are under way.
Napoli want to tie Claudio Lieto down until 2031. The centre-back, born in 2008, is on the bench for Juventus-Napoli at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday 1 November, kick-off 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET). It is his first Serie A call-up and his first time with the first team.
Lieto is currently on an apprenticeship contract signed in July 2026. It runs for one year, with an option for two more seasons. Giovanni Manna's club wants to replace it with a longer, more structured deal to 2031, and talks are open with his agent, Raffaele Petrellese of Gladium Football Management. Lieto is one of six players from the Primavera (the under-20 side) added to the senior squad for the trips to Turin and Porto.

Signing a player born in 2008 early costs little, and it is a decision we agree with. But a long contract and a place on the bench do not yet make a career. The real signal will be his first minute on the pitch. First comes Juventus, level with Napoli on 14 points.
