McTominay still on individual training, Napoli hope for return next week
The Scot is back at Castel Volturno after heart surgery in Manchester and is following a light, differentiated programme — game time is still some way off.

Scott McTominay resumed work at Castel Volturno after returning on Monday 21 September, following an ablation procedure on his heart performed in Manchester on 9 September. In Scotland he had stuck to rest and light individual training, and he is continuing the same kind of work at Napoli's training ground this week. A return to full training is still some way off, and Napoli are in no rush.
Head coach Allegri is counting on McTominay's leadership to help lift a difficult start to the season and hopes to have all his unavailable players back next week. Giovane is on the same recovery path, having restarted training after going five league games without a single minute, as has Beukema.

The schedule helps: after Saturday's friendly with Avellino, Napoli have no official match until 10 October, when Frosinone visit the Maradona. Ninth in the table with 7 points from five games, the club have a few weeks without result pressure to get the squad back in order.
