Napoli close talks on land for Qualiano training centre

Seven days of work by lawyers and technical consultants have cleared the last bureaucratic and land-registry obstacles. The project includes ten pitches, a mini-stadium of about 2,000 seats and a residential block for players.

Napoli have closed the negotiation for the land at Qualiano, where the new training centre is planned. The last bureaucratic and land-registry obstacles were cleared after seven days of work by lawyers and technical consultants.

One step remains: the signing of the preliminary purchase contract, or of the pre-emption right on the land. It is expected in the first days of this week.

The project is a big one. It includes ten full-size pitches, a mini-stadium of about 2,000 seats for the home games of the team playing in the Youth League, operational offices, gyms, changing rooms and an integrated residential block for players.

Construction will go ahead in phases, with the pitches first, so that the first team can move in straight away.

If the signing comes on schedule, the project moves from negotiation to construction, with pitches and facilities for the first team as the opening phase. That is the step we want to see in writing: until the preliminary contract is signed, a negotiation remains a negotiation.

Football goes on in the meantime. Napoli are 10th with 11 points after the 3-3 draw with Roma, and play Monza at the U-Power Stadium on Wednesday 28 October at 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET). Qualiano is a matter for the board, but supporters will also judge it on how quickly it moves from paper to pitches.
