Napoli sell just 11,000 tickets for Bologna clash

Free-sale tickets for Sunday's game have stalled well short of the 14,000 put on offer, a cold response from a fanbase angered by three straight defeats.

Napoli have sold just 11,000 tickets in the free sale for Sunday 13 September's home game against Bologna, kicking off at 18:00 at the Maradona. The figure falls short of the demand seen over the summer, when season-ticket requests exceeded the 14,000 tickets put on sale. The club reserves at least half of the stadium's capacity for free sale at every home game.

The low numbers arrive at the season's most delicate moment. Three straight defeats — to Como, Inter and Arsenal — have left Napoli 12th in Serie A with 3 points from 3 games, and the fanbase is responding coolly on the eve of what looks like the first real test of the season, given the gap in quality with Bologna. The squad trained on Friday at 18:00, the same kick-off time as the Inter game.

There are no more excuses against a Bologna side sitting 15th with a single point: the defeats to Inter and Arsenal were forgivable, this one would not be. Lang is set to start, while doubt remains over whether Anguissa will be fit, with Gilmour ready to step into a 4-2-3-1 if he is not.
