Real Madrid can take Marín back for €35m in 2027
The Spanish centre-back headed a goal at Monza on Wednesday 28 October, just as his value to Madrid keeps rising.

Real Madrid still hold a buy-back clause on Marín. The first option, worth €25m and valid for 2026, has expired. The second remains: in 2027 Florentino Pérez can bring him back to Spain for €35m.
The number 16 is heading towards that date as a key player. At Monza's U-Power Stadium on Wednesday 28 October he was at fault for Varela's goal in the 43rd minute. Then, in the 62nd, he headed the goal that made it 3-1.

He has won his place back quickly. Under Conte he played just 139 minutes in the league, and in summer 2025 he left on loan for Villarreal, where he made 31 appearances. He is back at Castel Volturno (the training ground) partly because the club did little in the transfer window. He now leads a defence that has lost Buongiorno, Badiashile and Spinazzola.
That raises an awkward point. If Marín keeps this up, his price is not ours to set. A summer ago we saw him as surplus to requirements, and now we risk building up his value for Madrid. The pitch will not wait, though. Napoli have conceded 11 goals in nine league games, and at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday 1 November, 20:45 CET (19:45 UK, 14:45 ET), much of the defence depends on him.
