Bodø/Glimt arrive in Naples days before Champions League clash

Napoli's opponents at the Maradona on Tuesday landed in the city over the weekend, well ahead of kick-off, in line with a working method built up over the past decade.

Bodø/Glimt arrived in Naples in stages between Saturday evening and Sunday, days ahead of Tuesday's match at the Maradona in matchday three of the Champions League league phase. The Norwegian side chose to travel early to manage recovery and diet after Saturday afternoon's league game, giving themselves more time to adjust to the surroundings before the match.

The club arriving at the Maradona is the one that went from relegation to Norway's second tier in 2016 to becoming a genuine Champions League contender, reaching a European semi-final in 2025 by knocking out Lazio. That rise has included mental coach Bjorn Mannsverk, with the club since 2017, and a rotating captaincy: there is no single fixed armband, with a different captain chosen by the squad before each game.

Napoli go into the match on zero points in the league phase, after opening defeats to Arsenal and a 3-1 loss at Villarreal, and coming off a 1-0 defeat at Venezia last Saturday. Bodø/Glimt, meanwhile, are also working on an advanced new stadium project, with some details — including the name — still to be settled.
